Callingwood Edmonton Real Estate

Callingwood may refer to two neighborhoods. Callingwood North and Callingwood South are both located in the west of Edmonton. Both are along 69 Avenue. The combined neighborhoods are bounded by 178 Street on the west, 170 Street on the east, Whitemud Drive on the north, and Callingwood Road on the south. 

To date, the community is comprised of numerous multi unit residences, many of which are rental dwellings. Apartments in buildings not higher than five stories can account for about 51% of homes in the area. High-rise apartments are up to 20%. Other types of residences include single family homes, row houses, and duplex/triplex/quadruplex. Thus, the community can be considered as highly mobile.

The Markeplace at Callingwood provides and facilitates recreational, commercial, and retail needs of residents. The outdoor shopping center is community oriented with more than 65 shops and services. It is also home to the popular Callingwood Farmers’ Market (every Sunday from May to October) and the Callingwood Professional Center. Another outstanding feature of the neighborhood is the Callingwood Park, one of the biggest recreational areas and parks in the entire Edmonton. Residents can enjoy outdoor and fun activities in the park, which is open to the public more during daytime. It can also be a venue for many other public and private gatherings.

Callingwood Homes

Callingwood can be an ideal community for families especially with children. That is because there are five schools that operate in the neighborhood, one of the rare areas with that as many educational institutions. Edmonton Catholic School System operates Archbishop Oscar Romero High School and Our Lady of the Prairies Catholic Elementary School. Edmonton Public School System runs Callingwood Elementary School. Two other schools are of interest. Those are the Sylvan Learning Centre and Talmud Torah Elementary and Junior High School, which is a Jewish school.
