Sakaw is a neighborhood in the Mill Woods area of the City of Edmonton. There are twenty-seven neighborhoods in the Mill Woods area and two neighborhoods make up the community of Millhurst, Sakaw being one of them. The name Sakaw is derived from the Cree language, meaning "wooded area," referring to the many trees that surrounded the farmlands of the area.

Most of the development of this neighborhood occurred during 1970s. The boundaries of the neighborhood are Anthony Henday Drive to the south, 66 Street to the west, Mill Woods South Road to the north and 50 Street to the east. The surrounding neighborhoods include Menisa to the west, Crawford Plains to the east, Meyokumin to the north and Anthony Henday Drive to the south. The community of approximately 4200 residents averages approximately $75,000 in annual income, just above the city average of over $72,000.

Single-family homes are the most common type of residential buildings in the neighborhood, accounting for 70% of all residences. Row houses make up 16%, duplexes make up 8% and apartments make up the remaining 5%. About 75% of all residential buildings in the neighborhood are occupied by the owner while 25% are rental property. The neighborhood has several large roads including Anthony Henday Drive, which provides easy access to shopping facilities such as the Millhurst Shopping Centre and Mill Woods Town Centre.

Sakaw Elementary School is the only school in the neighborhood and it is a public school. There is a large public park located in the center of the neighborhood where outdoor enthusiasts and children can enjoy recreational activities. Interior roads are curvy and often end in cul-de-sacs, which help keep the main traffic on the main roads and away from the residential areas. Pathways are placed strategically throughout the area to promote safe pedestrian and bicycle travel.
