Finding the perfect summer festivals and events can make your summer great. Edmonton offers a number of great choices with some already underway and others coming later. Here's a look at a few of the top summer events and festivals you will want to enjoy this summer in Edmonton.

The Works Art & Design Festival - June 19th to July 1st

Currently underway, this event provides a great look at art and design in Edmonton. It takes up about one square kilometre in the downtown core of Edmonton. The festival is free for everybody to enjoy and you will find visual art, entertainment and plenty of design from all types of artists.

Freewill Shakespeare Festival - June 23rd to July 19th

The perfect festival for those enjoying performances, the Freewill Shakespeare Festival will be held at Hawrelak Park. You can enjoy presentations, such as "Coriolanus" and "As You Like It" at this year's event.

Edmonton Eskimos Home Opener - July 9th

If you're ready to kick off the 2015 CFL season, you can do so by celebrating the home opener of the Edmonton Eskimos. It will be played at Commonwealth Stadium against the Ottawa Redblacks.

Taste of Edmonton - July 16th to 25th

One of the most popular events for foodies held every year is Taste of Edmonton. This year it will be held in Churchill Square with 54 new menu items, 12 new restaurants and plenty of food trucks to enjoy. There will be nine pop ups during the nights of the event, along with plenty of new workshops.

Heritage Festival - August 1st to 3rd

The Heritage Festival will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. It will be held at Hawrelak Park with 62 pavilions and more than 85 cultures on display.

Edmonton Folk Music Festival - August 6th to 9th

Gallagher Park will host the Folk Music Festival this year. It will feature plenty of great artists, such as Siead O'Connor and Of Monsters and Men.

Edmonton International Fringe Festival - August 13th to 23rd

Taking over Old Strathcona, this festival will las 11 days and will provide more than 1,600 live performances in 50 venues. You can enjoy plenty of fun throughout the festival and many of the events will be held indoors.

Many other events will be held throughout Edmonton this summer and into the fall. These are just a few of the highlights to choose from for a summer full of fun.
