Kameyosek Real Estate Market
The Kameyosek housing market is bounded by 34 Avenue in the north, 66 Street in the east, 28 Avenue in the south, and by Mill Woods Road in the west. Bisecting the neighbourhood from the north and east is Lakewood Road.
Around the collector roadway, which passes through the neighbourhood and around the school site, is where most of the homes in the area are located. The household mix of Kameyosek has a dominant structure of row houses accounting for 50% of the residences, meanwhile accounting for 32% of the residences are single-family homes. Following with 16% are low and high-rise rented apartments and duplexes which are only used by 1% of the residents. As for occupancy, over half are owner occupied (53%) while the remainder are renter occupied.
Kameyosek Neighbourhood History
The Government of Alberta established the land bank of Mill Woods in 1970. Due to the Mill Creek, which intersected the area and the groves and forest trees of Parkland, which surrounded it, the settlers named the area Mill Woods in conjunction with the creek and the forest area. By 1971, the City of Edmonton purchased the area and created a development plan, subdivided the land for sale into residential and commercial lots. Residential development began in Kameyosek in the 1970s.
Kameyosek Community Amenities
Shopping centers are quite accessible to residents as well; the Mill Woods Recreation Centre is only a short drive from most homes in the neighbourhood. And immediately to the east you can find the Grey Nuns Community Hospital, another daycare facility, Tawa Montessori, bordering 66 Street, and also the southeast division of the Edmonton Police Service Station. The schools and parks have a few extended pathways in the neighbourhood ensuring easy accessibility for all the residents in the community.
Kameyosek School Information
There is one school, Kameyosek Community School, within the neighbourhood operated by the Edmonton Public School System, this school is only a few minutes away from Central Millwoods Daycare located in the southwestern corner of the neighbourhood. Lastly the in the southern part of town is the Mill Woods campus of Grant MacEwan University.
