Killarney Real Estate Market

Killarney housing market statistics: As of January 24, 2020 there are currently 8 properties for sale in Killarney listed as active, with an average asking price of $302,200. The highest-priced property is $349,000; the lowest priced property can be purchased for $204,900. Killarney neighbourhood listings have an average price of $273 per square foot, based on listings with 3.9 bedrooms, 1.8 baths, and 1,110 square feet of living space.

Killarney Community

Today there is a wide variety of housing types within the neighbourhood of Killarney. The majority of these are single detached homes, accounting for 34% of all residential units. These are followed by duplex units that account for 26% of all residences, rented apartments that account for 24% of homes, and row houses which make up 16% of residential units. Most residences are renter occupied, accounting for 60% of all residents, while the remaining 40% are owner occupied.

The population is comparatively mobile in Killarney – as many as 21% of residents just moved into the neighbourhood in the past 12 months. However, 41% of residents have lived within the neighbourhood for five or more years.

The area which the neighbourhood of Killarney now occupies has belonged to Edmonton since the year 1913, although it wasn't until the 1940s that any development occurred here. Back in the year 1911, numerous acres of land adjacent to Namayo Avenue, or most commonly known today as 97th Street, were subdivided and developed separately. Although the land area of Killarney was subdivided, it wasn't until much later that developers finally moved in.

Between 1946 and the mid-1960s, around half of all the homes presently standing in Killarney today were constructed. Following a brief period when construction was halted, development kicked off again in the 1970s. By the end of that decade, construction in the area was virtually complete.

Killarney Neighbourhood Amenities

At the eastern and western boundaries, along 82nd and 97th Streets respectively, you will find busy commercial areas that serve residents of the neighbourhood. Several parks and churches can be found around the neighbourhood as well.

Killarney School Information

Due to its comparatively large population, there are four schools in Killarney, namely Killarney Junior High School, Queen Elizabeth High School, St. Matthew Catholic Elementary School and Archbishop Oleary High School, which can be found in the adjoining neighbourhood of Glengarry.
