Downtown Edmonton Condo Market

The Downtown Edmonton real estate market is bounded by 105th Avenue to the north, 110th Street to the west, and North Saskatchewan River Valley to the south. Today, the community consists of a mixture of residential properties as well as retail and office, and warehouse land uses.

Originally located to the north of Fort Edmonton, the Hudson Bay Company Reserve forced the community to relocate to the east of the Fort. As a result, this saw the commercial hub of the town move to 97th Street and Jasper Avenue, though most of the Downtown area is now situated in the southern part of the reserve. Although Jasper Avenue continues to be the main avenue, commercial activities have stretched outwards to the western part of 97th Street.

Downtown Community Amenities

Getting around Downtown is convenient with the LRT stations located throughout the community. All manner of services and amenities are offered to those living in and touring this community, from shopping centers like Edmonton City Center, restaurants, business centers, hotels, and schools. Grant MacEwan University and the University of Alberta are also located in Downtown Edmonton.

Downtown Neighbourhood Highlights

Buyers touring the area will find that there are many streets and districts in Downtown Edmonton. One of the most prominent is the Arts District in the east part of Downtown, which includes Churchill Square where much of the art community is centered. Then there is Edmonton City Center shopping mall and the Government Center where Alberta’s provincial government maintains its offices. Jasper Avenue is one of the main commercial streets in the city, as is McKay Avenue, where the Mckay Avenue School is located.  Rice Howard Way consists of several office towers, while Warehouse District is the biggest commercial area in town. Meanwhile, 104 Street offers cafes, restaurants, and shops to all residents.
