Summerside Edmonton Real Estate

The Summerside neighborhood was established as the center of the Ellerslie Area Structure Plan, also known as Ellerslie ASP, in the early 2000s. The project began with the idea of providing both residential and business opportunities for the neighborhood.

The basic residential plan for the neighborhood was to accommodate families that wanted to live in a new modern neighborhood that is close to Edmonton. At the same time, various business establishments and institutions, such as schools, would also be provided accordingly. As of 2006, everything has been going as planned although construction of the neighborhood is still not yet complete.

The name of the neighborhood, which is Summerside, came from a city located on Prince Edward Island called Summerside. The neighborhood depicts the marine-related characteristics of the city as if it was a resort community on the east coast of Prince Edward Island. The man-made lake was added to provide a marine like element to the community.

More About Summerside Community

When visitors first come to Summerside, the first thing that they will immediately notice is the man-made lake, which was designed to make residents feel as if they were living at a resort. At the same time, the lake is being maintained by the community and only non-motorized boats are allowed to be used in the lake. Although there are still some units still undergoing construction, the Summerside neighborhood is nearly fully completed.

In the western part of the Summerside neighborhood, people will find the Best Western Plus South Edmonton Inn and Suites. Southwest of the neighborhood is the Ellerslie Industrial where most residents will probably go to work. A short drive pass the Anthony Henday Drive, visitors will be able to reach the South Edmonton Common where most commercial establishments can be found. Right next to these commercial establishments are the Edmonton Research and Development Park.
