Prince Rupert Community

Sitting within the Hudson’s Bay Reserve, the community of Prince Rupert was developed in the years following World War II. It was named after the Prince Rupert golf course which was run by the Hudson’s Bay Company between 1930 and 1951. Prince Rupert, who was a nephew of King Charles II, was the first governor of the Hudson’s Bay Company.

Today, Prince Rupert is mainly a residential area, with most of the homes here built between the years 1946 and 1960. Of these, the large majority are single family dwellings. In addition, there is a significant number of low-rise apartments, as well as a few duplexes.
