The neighbourhood is located within the Big Lake area, and before it was officially named it was originally designated as ‘neighbourhood 1’. After ground was broken on August 19, 2009, city officials declared that the neighbourhood would henceforth be known as Trumpeter.
The geography of Trumpeter is quite distinct – the neighbourhood is actually quite remote, in that it is separated from the city proper by vast tracts of agricultural land. While this land has been earmarked for future development, this could still be many years away. As a result, Trumpeter has something of an isolated feel which makes it very popular for buyers looking to live outside of the hustle and bustle of the city.
The isolation is one of the most attractive aspects of Trumpter, something that has led to intense competition among buyers for the properties here. At the time of writing, only around 30 homes had been completed (all of which are already occupied), although many more are currently under construction.
Being so isolated, Trumpeter is lucky to have gorgeous outdoor spaces and recreational options. A huge lake, known Horseshoe Lake, is located immediately to the south of the neighbourhood. The Lake is one of the biggest within the city of Edmonton, and is surrounded by dense forests, making it a wonderful attraction for those who love the outdoors.
Another attraction of Trumpeter is its proximity to two of the finest golf courses within Edmonton; the Glendale Golf and Country Club, and the smaller Dragon’s Head par-3 golf club.
