Ritchie Real Estate Market

The neighbourhood is home to approximately 4000 residents. The Calgary and Edmonton Railroad line arrived in 1891 and thus began the development of the neighbourhood. Single family homes are the most popular residential buildings in the neighbourhood accounting for 60%. Apartments and condominiums make up 32%, duplexes make up 4% and row houses make up 3%. 55% of all residences are owned by the owner with 45% of the residences being rental property.

Ritchie Community Amenities

There are several public parks for outdoor enthusiasts and children to enjoy recreational activities, as well as the Mill Creek Ravine which provides swimming, fishing and boating recreational activities. Nearby is the historic area of Old Strathcona for residents of Ritchie who wish to enjoy the nightlife.

The boundaries of the neighbourhood are Whyte Avenue to the north, 72 Avenue to the south, Mill Creek Ravine to the east and to the west the boundary is south of 79 Avenue and travels along 100 Street. Residents have easy access the University of Alberta via Whyte Avenue. There is also easy access to downtown via 99 Street, which cuts through the neighbourhood. Surrounding communities include Strathcona to the north, Hazeldean to the south, CPR Irvine to the west and Mill Creek Ravine to the east.

Ritchie School Information

There are three schools in the community, two public schools: Mill Creek Elementary School and Ritchie Junior High School, and one private school: Reach Out To School on Whyte.
