Before the local vicinity was developed, the northern part of the neighbourhood was primarily used for agricultural purposes. Therefore, this suburban municipality is relatively modern in comparison to others, with 86% of its homes being constructed during the 1990s. Buildings are commonly single family dwellings, although some residents live in apartment-styled condominiums. There are also a few families that live in duplexes, but these account for only 4% of the neighbourhood's population. Almost all of the homes here in Wild Rose are owner occupied.
Although the neighbourhood does not contain any commercial or industrial spaces, employment and other opportunities are sought out in adjacent locales such as Mill Woods. And while the area is scarce of modern facilities such as malls and shops, Wild Rose prides instead takes pride in its abundance of natural reserves such as the Mill Creek. This wonderful natural asset, which branches out to encompass the other open spaces in the community, takes up much of the southern portion of Wild Rose. The park is well known for its landscaped ingenuity which makes it an attractive spot for picnicking, community gatherings, social events, exercising and other pursuits .
Father Michael Troy Catholic Junior High School is the only educational institute here in Wild Rose. This school was fortunate enough to survive a fire during its construction, which was caused by a lightning that struck during a storm. The damage was fortunately minimal, since the fire was diluted by the heavy rains from the storm itself. The school ended up opening as scheduled in 2003 and is managed by the Edmonton Catholic School District. One of the key attractions of the school is its large open spaces for outdoor recreational activities, and these facilities are also open to residents of Wild Rose as well.
