Dechene Real Estate Market
Dechene was undeveloped until it was annexed by Edmonton in 1972. Following this annexation, housing units started to spring up in the neighbourhood. Construction activity was at its peak in the late 1980s. After 1990, residential construction continued at a slower pace into the early 2000s.
Today, Dechene is still mainly a residential area. The most common type of dwelling is the single-detached house. There are also a few duplexes.

Dechene has two schools—The Good Sheperd Catholic Elementary School which is managed by the Edmonton Catholic School System, and the S. Bruce Smith Junior High School which is run by the Edmonton Public School System.
