The name of the neighbourhood comes from the nearby Wedgewood ravine is situated in the eastern part of the neighbourhood. To the west of Wedgewood Heights is Anthony Henday Ring road. The names of the roads in the neighbourhood are often named famous people that once lived in Edmonton.
Because the neighbourhood was developed over several decades, it contains a unique mixture of homes and properties. The more modern developments in Edmonton have many neighbourhoods and land that are very similar, but in Wedgewood Heights there is a mixture of plots of land that are unique and unlike any others in Edmonton.
Most of the homes in Wedgewood Heights are modern. Almost 20% of the homes were built in the late 1980’s and about 75% were built in the 1990’s or later.
