Glenwood Real Estate Market

Before the merger, Glenwood was already growing as a residential area. In the 1950s, a portion of the neighbourhood east of 163rd street was developed. Developments carried on to the west side throughout the 1960s. From this decade up to the 1970s, there was a significant increase in the number of private dwellings built around the neighbourhood.

Today, Glenwood is still largely a residential area, with pockets of commercial and institutional properties. The housing unit types you will find in Glenwood are quite varied. There are low and high rise apartments, single and semi-detached homes, as well as row housing.

Glenwood Community Amenities

Public transportation is mainly provided by the Edmonton Transit System. Its Jasper Place terminal sits on the northeast corner of Glenwood. On the north end of the neighbourhood, the west Edmonton headquarters of the Edmonton Police Service can be found.

With access to four parks, residents can enjoy plenty of outdoor activities in Glenwood. There are also shopping centers nearby, such as the Mayfield Common and the West Edmonton Mall.

Glenwood is a community that actively seeks to make its neighbourhood a better and more beautiful place. In fact, in 2012, the Glenwood community started a project that will improve Stony Plain Road. The goal is to make it more accessible and pedestrian-friendly.
