It's not unusual for visitors to Edmonton to make a detour through Belvedere to take in the historic sights -- such as the Transit Motel or other structures that have stood the test of time for over a century. Modern housing in Belvedere is compromised of single-family homes dating back to at least the 1940's, with the oldest landmark being the aforementioned Packing Plant that stands alone and abandoned in the Belvedere field.
Belvedere Neighbourhood Amenities
As of the early 2000's, the community has taken on a revitalization project with hopes of widening a few roads and turning parts of Belvedere into a well-known historical attraction. The outskirts of town are already home to the Century Casino and Hotel; therefore, it wouldn't be too far of a stretch for travelers and vacationers to step over the boundary between the roadways and visit all the old-fashioned structures that Belvedere residents have been working hard to maintain.
From a map's view, Belvedere is a triangular swatch of land pock-marked with few roadways and boxed in by three major streets. A smaller subdivision of Belvedere is enclosed in a similar triangular section at the base of the Belvedere between 66 St. NW and Fort Rd. NW. While most of the amenities run the length of the latter, a school system and a community hall provides families with modern comfort in historically aged surroundings.
