Blue Quill Real Estate Market

In these days Blue Quill is a suburban neighbourhood that has a mixture of single and semi-detached homes, housing complexes and even apartments. But prior to the development of Blue Quill, this area, known as the Kaskitayo area was used for agricultural development and was home to 18 farmsteads.  Ten of these farmsteads were still in operation when the Kaskitayo Outline plan for Blue Quill was being prepared. Cree Chief Blue Quill, whom the city is named for was a frequent trader in Edmonton in the late 1890s.  He was the Chief of the Saddle Lake Indian Reserve, which was founded and established in 1889.

Blue Quill Community Amenities

There is a commercial center that is located to the North of the community along Saddleback Road. There are also park sites, which are located towards the inner part of the neighbourhood, and are considered to be the most significant natural feature in Blue Quill. In April of 2010 the opening of Century Park LRT provided residents with major access to downtown Edmonton, and the University of Alberta, as well as many shopping amenities at Southgate Centre.

Blue Quill School Information

Many neighbourhood children attend St. Teresa Catholic Elementary School, which is operated by Edmonton Catholic School System. In addition there is a Semininary of the Taylor Baptist Seminary located to the south of Blue Quill in Skyrattler for residents to attend.
